Placemaking Project of the Year

Lion Green Road

Lion Green Road, Croydon, a place-led residential development. Five sculpted pavilions sit within an accessible verdant landscape, containing 157 market sale and affordable rent homes. Spatially rich pavilions range from 5 to 7 storeys, shifting revealing views of the scheduled monument, and allowing space for existing mature trees to flourish.

Southsea Coastal Scheme Sub-frontage 1

The £185M Southsea Coastal Scheme is the UK’s largest Local Authority led FCERM Scheme. The scheme stretches 4.5km from Old Portsmouth to Eastney and the new defences will reduce the risk of coastal flooding and erosion to more than 10,000 homes, 700 businesses, 3 scheduled monuments and 74 listed structures.

Union Terrace Gardens

Union Terrace Gardens, a cherished green space in Aberdeen’s city centre, reopened in December 2022 as a transformative centrepiece of the city’s masterplan. The rejuvenated gardens now feature new pavilions, raised walkways, lighting, water features, and extensive landscaping, creating an inviting public space that pays homage to its Victorian heritage.

University Station Redevelopment

Originally designed for 400,000 annual passengers, University Station became tired and constrained, carrying three million passengers annually. More than just a station, it has now been redeveloped to become a gateway for the area, with increased capacity, better facilities and public realm, and improved connections to nearby universities and hospitals.
