Colin Wood is Chief Executive for Civil Infrastructure at AECOM.
Colin is responsible for leading the growth, strategy and client engagement of AECOM’s Civil Infrastructure business in EMIA which operates in 50 countries, has over 8,500 staff and includes the Transportation, Water, Ports and Power sectors.
A former RAF Wing Commander, Colin has a strong background in defence, transportation, operations, and construction.
Prior to his role at AECOM, Colin spent 20 years in the UK Royal Air Force as a senior officer. After a successful career in the military Colin was appointed as Director of Operations at London’s Heathrow airport, a role which included accountability for the safe operation of one of the world’s busiest passenger and cargo airports.
After 5 years at Heathrow, he took over as Head of Olympic Games for Transport For London where he coordinated London’s transport preparations for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Returning to defence in 2014, Colin led global infrastructure and construction operations for the UK Ministry of Defence as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) for 3 years before moving to take over a $13bn Private Finance Initiative where he led the delivery and operation of the UK military’s fleet of transport and refueling aircraft across the world.
Colin studied for an MA in Defence Studies at King’s College London, is a Member of the City and Guilds Institute and was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2003 for his service in the Royal Air Force.
