Nigel has worked in the Nuclear industry for 40 years with a uniquely diverse experience in Engineering, Operations and large scale project management.
Having joined the industry as an electrical craft apprentice, he gained qualifications, knowledge and experience that include, licensed reactor operator, control room supervisor and Operations shift manager. Nigel has held senior management and executive director positions for the last 20 years.
He has held plant manager positions at Dungeness B and Sizewell B and was Station director at Hinkley Point B (HPB) leading the HPB plant recovery and life extension projects. He led various successful Nuclear Generation fleet initiatives in leadership and culture, work management, industrial relations and training; and held the position of Independent Executive Advisor to Nuclear Generation Genco licensee board during one of its most successful periods of operation.
Nigel is recognised as a key nuclear leader in the UK with a reputation as an influential leader, with a strong safety culture, and a reputation of delivery through development of high performing teams. He has represented EDF Energy in many external forums including peer reviews with WANO and INPO.
Nigel joined the HPC project in 2011 as the site construction director and now holds the position of HPC Delivery Executive Board Director. During this time, he has been at the heart of development and delivery of the HPC site supply chain infra structure, project management and project controls, leading to the current HPC project performance to date. He is recognised for his stakeholder management, media, industrial relations, supply chain and leadership skills, with many newspaper/magazine print and media articles having been recorded over the last 9 years.
