Usman Shah is a multi-award winning social entrepreneur who founded Diversity Hut, a social enterprise which helps organisations get better at diversity through recruitment, retention and cultural change. Diversity Hut tackled the industries diversity problem head on; and through Diversity Hut, Usman has now created over 49 full time jobs for people of disadvantaged backgrounds, mentored over 400 young people on STEM careers, and also consulted/trained large organisations on Diversity. The successes of Diversity Hut led Usman to be selected as part of a social impact incubator (Allia Serious Impact), Virgin Start Up’s Crowdboost programme to educate start-up businesses on how to scale faster and UBS’s Do It Programme. Usman has recently been elected as a fellow by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and is now due to travel to the USA, UAE and Asia to research Diversity, and return back to the UK with the findings to implement and inspire UK businesses.
Usman is also a Chartered Quality Professional.
Usman has an extensive background in innovation, start up and growth and was previously Costain’s Innovation Accelerator Manager. Usman was also the project manager for the NCE’s very own TechFest Accelerator.
Together with Usman’s prowess in Diversity and Innovation, Usman is leveraging the hidden talent of disadvantaged peoples, small start up’s and SME’s and bringing the best out of them.
