David is responsible for leadership of Engineering, Technical Systems Integration and Construction Quality on the Transpennine Route Upgrade rail upgrade programme.  TRU will transform journeys across the North, better connecting towns and cities through more frequent, faster trains, running on a cleaner, greener and more reliable railway.  David’s early career started in Nuclear Power Generation after gaining a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham.  After switching into rail, David undertook various engineering management roles on the West Coast Route Modernisation programme.  A seminal role was that on the Stafford Programme, overseeing the engineering development and ultimately as the Engineering Manager of the Stafford Alliance.  David was then Head of Engineering for the Northern Programmes organisation, delivering projects such as the Ordsall Chord and North West Electrification.
