Barking Riverside Pier
Barking Riverside Pier is the new eastern terminus for the Thames Clipper Riverbus service on the Thames in London. The new stop for pedestrians and cyclists includes a floating pontoon, canting brow, timber boardwalk and viewing terrace, re-purposing the existing coaling pier for the old Barking Powerstation.
Bradbury Works
Bradbury Works in Gillett Square, Dalston, has re-opened its doors to new and returning tenants. The new building includes the refurbishment of 600m2 of existing affordable workspace, the replacement of ten mini retail units, and the provision of almost 500m2 of extra workspace in a two-storey extension.
Bristol Beacon
Preservation of a stage The Beatles graced. Ornamental plasterwork restored by craftsmen that worked on Buckingham Palace. Three Elizabethan wells. A hall the size of 6.5 Olympic swimming pools, foundations strengthened by enough concrete to fill 1,280 bathtubs. Local economy contributions of £13m pa, 800+ events a year.
Deep retrofit of WSP’s London Office
When the lease on WSP’s Chancery Lane office came up for renewal, we decided to lead by example and retrofit the 55,000 sq ft space to create an exceptionally sustainable work environment. Our engineers pioneered innovative building systems that use free cooling and lowers energy demand by up to 65%.
Exeter College, Oxford- Library Renovation
The Library is of considerable architectural importance, it has been an intellectual home to many notable writers including JRR Tolkien. Outcomes achieved: Restoration of stonework and roof; Modernisation of heating, electrics, ventilation, temperature control; Retention of precious atmosphere whilst redesigning the space; 90 readers, was 65
Locomotive turntable recovery, restoration, installation
Dismantling and recovery of 100 year old locomotive turntable from Hither Green. Restoration to original condition and installation into a purpose built turntable pit. Commissioned to full working order as part of the Robertsbridge to Bodiam Reconnection Project. Locomotives and rolling stock can be rotated to extend time between repainting.
Norton Folgate
Occupying a prominent position on The City Fringe, a short walk from Liverpool Street Station, this £225m office led development is a most complex projects delivered by British Land. Comprising of three urban blocks with the retention of several historic buildings, creation of six new buildings and new public realm.
Pier F Bearings and Walkways
This project at the Port of Dover has extended the service life of Pier F and its approach bridges through bearing upgrade and replacement, and also retrofitted GRP permanent access walkways that will allow for regular bearing inspection and maintenance, without impacting port operations.
Tenanted cut and carve
Hub Victoria stretches the ambitions of cut-and-carve by extending two office buildings with tenants in occupation. Services remained operational while the new structure was built and plant was moved three storeys. The island site above rail lines required offset cranes, temporary weatherproofing and management of the public.
